Pressure impact on physical behavior of intermetallics

Intermetallic compounds play an important role in recent technical development, they are also in forefront of scientific research efforts for their interesting physical properties including mechanical, thermal, transport and magnetic behavior. In many cases the resulting physical properties of intermetallics depend on their chemical composition, crystal structure and external conditions including temperature, magnetic field and mechanical pressure. These parameters are thus also being used for tuning their resulting properties. From the above mentioned methods pressure represents the least utilized method and brings a possibility to view into a specific regions of the phase space. The contribution will be dedicated to introductory notes about the pressure effects in the materials, possible experimental approaches and obtained results on selected compounds.
